Welcome to the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science at Immaculata University. Through a variety of academic, recreational, and athletic opportunities, students have the opportunity to broaden their academic knowledge, participate in active learning experiences and develop as professionals in the field of exercise science.
The Exercise Science major is an interdisciplinary course of study that will provide a science-based liberal arts education to students who are interested in pursuing careers in exercise science or who desire to continue their education in graduate school. The program is designed to prepare students in the scientific basis of human movement as it relates to motor performance, injury/disease rehabilitation and improved health and fitness. Internships in the area's finest hospitals, corporate fitness businesses, and training and fitness centers will provide hands-on experience for students desiring to pursue employment in the exercise science field. The program will also provide the students with the prerequisites for graduate study in related areas including physical therapy, occupational therapy and exercise physiology.
