March Informational Letter

March 2011

Dear Prospective Graduate:

Congratulations! If you have met all requirements for graduation, I congratulate you on behalf of the Division of Student Development & Engagement. The entire Immaculata community looks forward to celebrating this momentous occasion.

On Monday, May 16, 2011 the 87th Commencement Ceremony for Immaculata University will take place at the Valley Forge Convention Center, located at 1160 First Avenue, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The ceremony begins at 12:00 p.m.  Graduates are asked to please report to the concourse level of the Convention Center beginning at 10:00 a.m. and arrive no later than 11:15 a.m. for line-up.  Please use entrance “C” of the Valley Forge Convention Center Scanticon Hotel.

It is very important that the Office of the Vice President for Student Development & Engagement be notified of your intention to participate in the commencement ceremony. Since graduates are called individually to receive their diplomas, it is necessary for us to know exactly who will be present. Seating is limited; therefore, this information will enable us to fill all seats with guests of those graduates who will be attending. The number of tickets available per graduate cannot be determined until you return your response card. Please return response cards by Tuesday, April 5, 2011 to the Office of the Vice President for Student Development & Engagement c/o Leslie Bokoski.  Please remember to indicate on the response card whether you plan to attend commencement or plan not to attend commencement. If you misplace your commencement information packet you can view all of the contents in this packet on the Immaculata University website – Campus Life Tab – Commencement 2011 or the MyIU Portal – Campus Life Tab.

Tickets for the ceremony will be distributed at commencement rehearsal. Tickets will not be released to students with academic, financial, or library holds. Rehearsal is scheduled for May 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. on campus in the Alumnae Hall Theater. Rehearsal check-in will take place in the Faculty Center lounge beginning at 5:30 pm. In late April, you will receive another correspondence indicating the number of tickets each graduate will receive. This information will also be posted on the commencement information link on the Immaculata University website and the MyIU portal.

All students who are graduating are assessed a Graduation Fee of $125.00.  August and January graduates were already assessed and should have paid the fee.  All students, whether you participate in the ceremony in May, or not, are assessed the fee. The graduation fee covers a variety of services and material; such as, diploma printing, diploma casing, and your transcript audit.

Please review carefully the information we are including with this letter and refer to it when necessary. You may also consult the website or the MyIU portal for updates. I look forward to working with you as you prepare for the reception of your diploma. Should you have any questions:
