Frequently Asked Questions

I went to college a long time ago. Would these credits transfer?

• For many majors, there is no time limit on the age of college credits. However, some majors do have time limits. Credits normally transfer from one college to another if a student has earned a grade of "C" or better in a course. A counselor in the College of LifeLong Learning will evaluate transcripts and advise as to which credits are accepted in transfer. Use a Transcript Request Form to have transcripts sent from previous schools attended.

How many transfer credits will Immaculata University accept?

• Normally, a maximum of 63 credits is transferable toward a bachelor's degree program; this enables the student who holds an associate degree in a compatible liberal arts program to enter the college with junior status.

If I take courses at Immaculata University, and for whatever reason am not able to complete my degree, will my credits be accepted at other colleges?

• Immaculata University is granted accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Credits should easily transfer to any other regionally accredited college throughout the United States.

Can I take classes at Immaculata University if I've never been to college before?

• Students without previous college experience may begin their studies with a cohort in the ACCEL^® (accelerated) associate degree program or as an enrichment student in any of the Continuing Education (CE) semester-based courses. Students entering a degree program must submit an official high school transcript or bring in a GED certificate.

How will I know which program is most suitable for me?

• A counselor will meet with each student prior to registration to review previous learning experiences. Prospective students should bring transcripts from other colleges and universities as well as from technical and professional training such as paralegal programs, computer training, any industry certification. A recommendation will be made based on previous educational experiences and identification of the student's goals. This interview does not obligate the prospective student to enter a program.
