Orientation
The College of LifeLong Learning serves men and women of all ages so that they can earn a college degree, a certification, or credit for courses of special interest. Most CLL students study on a part-time basis. Orientation to the university and explanation of the curriculum the student has chosen takes place during individual counseling sessions conducted by a College of LifeLong Learning counselor and - depending on the curriculum - a faculty advisor. Students enrolling in traditional-length continuing education courses (Continuing Education or CE students)are invited to a formal orientation on a weekday night at the beginning of each semester.
Students choosing an accelerated degree completion program (ACCEL® students) are formally introduced to the mission of the university and the policies and procedures governing their program two weeks before the beginning of the cohort's coursework.
Bookstore
The Barnes and Noble bookstore is located on the terrace level of Good Counsel Hall and carries books and lists requirements for all courses offered on the main campus. Needed materials usually arrive several weeks before the beginning of classes. Store hours accommodate course beginning times and dates. You can also visit the bookstore online.
Off-site Programs
Students studying at off-site locations order books and course materials through MBS Direct. Orders are placed either by phone, fax, or on the Web and texts are delivered directly to the student's home.
Library
Gabriele Library is open seven days a week and its staff welcomes the adult learner. The extensive holdings and resources of the Library are explained at various orientation sessions arranged for special student groups. All students in the ACCEL nursing cohorts must attend, on a Friday or Saturday at Immaculata, program-related activities, which include a Library orientation. Other students are urged to attend formal Library orientation workshops offered free of charge several times during the fall and spring semesters. For more information about the Library, click on the Library link.
All students have full access to all online resources through the Internet by using their Immaculata network account.
Student ID
Registered students are entitled to a student identification card. This is a picture I.D. that allows students to borrow library materials and to receive discounts at various businesses. Students obtain the card at the Student Affairs Center, located on the terrace level of Nazareth Hall. The center is open during evening hours in the beginning of each semester. Often, special arrangements are made for particular groups of students for the provision of this card. Please call extension 3112 to confirm hours and to make inquiries regarding I.D. cards.
Parking
All students parking on campus must display an Immaculata University parking permit. During the first week of the semester, permits are available in the Student Affairs Center during the early evening hours. Thereafter, students register their vehicle in the Campus Safety Office located on the terrace level in Lourdes Hall. Safety officers ticket cars not properly registered or illegally parked. Students attending classes at an off-site location must follow parking regulation as posted or announced by the host institution or facility.
Dining Services
The dining room in Nazareth Hall serves cafeteria-style meals. Dining service hours are posted outside of the dining hall or click on the Dining Room link. A food cart and vending machines are located on Loyola and Good Counsel Halls for the convenience of students.
Career Services
Career Services, located in the Mary A. Bruder Center across from Nazareth Hall, offers a variety of career resources and information for all student populations to assist them with their career development. For more information, please visit the Career Services website.
Counseling Services
Committed to addressing developmental needs while fostering change and personal growth, Counseling Services provides confidential support services and personal counseling for all students. Counseling Services also offers specialized programs throughout the year, crisis intervention, and maintains a library of written materials, tapes, and videos on mental health and personal growth. For more information, please visit the Counseling Services website.
Activities on Campus
CLL students are warmly invited to attend the various cultural events taking place on campus, which include lectures, exhibits, plays, and performances by the Immaculata Symphony and College Chorale. Events are posted on Immaculata's web site and on bulletin boards throughout the campus. The newly inaugurated CLL newsletter solicits student input and is distributed to all CLL students and alums. Athletic facilities include an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis courts, weight room, and softball field and are open to CLL students subject to scheduling priorities. Campus Ministry welcomes all students to participate in worship, study groups, and service opportunities.
Support Offices
Offices with which students may need to interact include the Registrar, the Treasurer (Business Office), and the Financial Aid offices. Financial Aid officers will see students after standard business hours; an appointment needs to made. Representatives from the Registrar's and Business Office should be contacted during the day. Occasionally, CLL counselors act as intermediaries for these two offices and facilitate an issue that could not be resolved during the day.
International Student Services
The Student Affairs Center offers special support to students from foreign countries. International students are encouraged to participate fully in all aspects of campus life. Special events, such as multicultural week, are held to showcase the cultures represented at Immaculata.
Campus Safety
The Office of Campus Safety and Protection is open 24 hours a day to support the University in providing a safe and secure environment. Campus Safety can be called when an emergency arises in the classroom, when a suspicious activity is noted, or when a student experiences a problem with his or her car. Upon request, a representative from the department escorts students to and from the classroom and parking area. The office may be contacted from phones located in hallways and in parking lots.Lost or misplaced items are turned into the Office of Campus Safety and Protection and may be claimed there. Students attending off-site follow the safety provisions as established by the host facility.
Student with Disabilities
Immaculata University makes every effort to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Students with special needs are asked to inform the CLL counselors as soon as possible so that faculty and service personnel can be informed and any necessary arrangements can be made.
