The Immaculata Women’s Open (May 23, 2005)

The Women’s Open is an event played by women to benefit the Immaculata University Scholarship Fund. Although the women’s outing is a newer event hosted by Immaculata, it has gained much popularity over the years. Alumnae and friends of the university enjoy a day of golf and other festivities at whichever club the Golf Committee chooses as a location for this spring event. Much energy is felt -- even after a day of golf -- at the dinner reception where exciting awards and raffle prizes are awarded.

The Immaculata Invitational (September 2, 2005)

Each year, the Immaculata Invitational is held at Merion Golf Club’s East Course in Ardmore, PA. The Invitational is usually held in September, and 2004 marks the outing’s 29th anniversary. For years friends of Immaculata University have enjoyed this event which includes a lunch and dinner reception, as well as awarding of prizes. Student volunteers help to make the day a success by donating their time to help with the dinner reception and raffle. Over 100 golfers participate in this event to benefit the Immaculata University Scholarship Fund.

While there have been Immaculata Alumnae dances from 1927 to 1938 and sporadically until 1965, the first one to be known as the Amethyst Ball was held in November of 1965 and has continued annually since.

Held at different locations over the years, hotels, country clubs, country inns no matter where, alums and their friends have enjoyed getting together for a special evening.

From 1989 until 2000 the location has been the Conservatory at the world renowned Longwood Gardens--an outstanding venue for a gala affair. Due to extensive renovations at Longwood, Immaculata's own beautiful Great Hall (the totally refurbished "old library") has been the "new"location for the Ball in 2001, 2002, and will be again in 2003.
