Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant
Through the efforts of Dr. Margaret Lacey, professor and chair of graduate nursing, now the executive director of the Immaculata University/ Brandywine School of Nursing Transition, awarded Immaculata a grant to provide partial funding for tuition and books to students in the graduate programs for nurse educator and nurse administrator preparation. The initial grant is relatively small, but has the potential to grow.

      

IU MSN Student being Invited as a Special Speaker
Nursing graduate student, Marianne Feister, RN, is being invited by the Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs, Coatesville’s Chapter to present a topic on "Nursing, a Diverse Work Force" on May 13, 2008 in Coatesville VA. Marianne is currently enrolled in the Nursing Administration Track of our MSN program. Congratulations, Marianne!       

IU RN-BSN Students Receive Community Service Award

The IU RN-BSN cohort at The Albert Einstein Medical Center won the Medical Center Community Service Award for their health fair offered during their Nursing Care of Communities course. Congratulations!

March 2008 ENRS and MNRS Research Conferences

Dr. Jane Tang, Assistant Professor of Nursing, presented a paper titled “The relationship of work-family policies to job satisfaction” at the 2008 Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS) 20th Annual Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia, PA, 3/28/08. She also presented a paper titled “Impact of work-family policies on job satisfaction and intent to stay: A model testing” at the 32nd Annual Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) Research Conference in Indianapolis, IN, 3/30/08


Welcome New Faculty
The Department of Nursing welcomes its newest faculty member, Patricia A. White, MSN, RN. Ms. White has a MSN degree focused on Health Leadership from University of Pennsylvania.  She received her RN diploma from Chester County Hospital and West Chester State College and her BSN from Immaculata College. Ms. White is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania.  We warmly welcome Ms. White.

Kathleen Francis, an Immaculata University RN-BSN
student, co-authored an article entitled, “Reducing urinary tract infection : A nurse-initiated program ”, in the Pennsylvania Nurse, December, 2007.

January 2008 Semester Break Katrina Relief Trip

Nursing faculty joined the Immaculata University's fourth Katrina relief trip to New Orleans, LA. The 30 member group worked with the Archdiocese of New Orleans' Operation Helping Hands (OHH) to rebuild houses.

December 2007 Nursing Scholarship Awarded

The family of the deceased Kathleen R. Otter donated a $400.00 scholarship to the department of nursing in her memory. The recipient was Jutta Steward, an RN-BSN student, from Coopersburg, PA
