Honor Society-Theta Alpha Kappa

Theta Alpha Kappa is a national honor society for students of Theology/Religious Studies:

This honor society promotes Religious Studies and Theology by encouraging excellence in research, teaching, publication, and exchange of learning and thought among scholars. It seeks to bring students, teachers, and writers of Religious Studies and Theology together both intellectually and socially.

The three Greek letters that identify the Society are Theta, the first letter of the Greek word Theos (God); Alpha, the first letter of the Greek word Anthropos (human being); and Kappa, the first letter of the Greek word Koinonia (Community). God, Humankind and Community -- these three constitute the three areas of primary concern to students of Religious Studies and Theology.

A local chapter of this national honor society, Alpha Epsilon Eta (AEE), was formed at Immaculata University in the Fall of 2000. Requirements for membership in this society are as follows:

New members pay a $25 initiation fee. Continuing members pay $20 annual dues to the National Society to maintain their active membership and receive a subscription to the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa.

Immaculata's Chapter sponsors such activities as forums, debates and seminars, along with other gatherings to promote informal and social communication.

Albert Clark Award

The National Board of Directors of TAK invites entries for the Albert Clark Award, given annually to one undergraduate student and one graduate student for submission of the best papers in religious studies or theology; as judged by a panel established by the Board.
