Performance Groups

Immaculata Chorale

One of the premier performing groups with a long history and outstanding reputation is the Immaculata Chorale. As specified in the music core requirements, music majors are required to participate, but non-music majors may also audition for participation. The Chorale gives several concerts each semester and presents joint concerts often with other university ensembles.

Immaculata Symphony

The Symphony is an ensemble of approximately 80 musicians from both the university and the neighboring communities. Membership is by audition for both students and community members and, together, players achieve not only a level of excellence in performance and artistry, but a beneficial blend of musical and personal experience for all involved. Recognized throughout the area for its outstanding musical contributions, IMS presents three-four concerts throughout the year.

Immaculata Wind Symphony

The Immaculata University Wind Symphony is the premiere symphonic wind band for all woodwind, brass and percussion players, both music and non-music majors. Repertoire includes both traditional and contemporary wind band literature as well as orchestral transcriptions for band.  The Immaculata Wind Ensemble presents several concerts a year and is open to all students and community members by audition whose primary instrument is woodwind, brass, percussion, and string bass.

Immaculata Chamber Players

The Chamber Players are members of the Immaculata Symphony who, in addition to orchestra membership, form various small ensembles to broaden their performance opportunities with additional musical repertoire. Distinct from the ensemble requirements within the music core but able to satisfy requirements, these groups, nevertheless, often include undergraduate music majors. The Chamber Players present one-two concerts each year.

Madrigal Singers

Chamber vocal ensemble dedicated to performance of music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods of music.

Jazz Ensemble

Select ensemble specializing in Big Band and Jazz Combo music from the 1920s through contemporary jazz.

String Ensemble

Chamber string ensemble specializing in small ensemble music arranged for the string trios, string quartets.

Saxophone Ensemble

Select chamber ensemble specializing in music from the Romantic through the 20th-century eras of music composed and/or arranged for saxophone quartet.

Flute Choir

Select chamber ensemble specializing in all eras of music written and/or arranged specifically for the flute family to include the C flute, alto flute, and bass flute.

Brass Ensemble

Select chamber ensemble specializing in brass choir music from the Baroque through the 20th-century.

Percussion Ensemble

Contemporary ensemble specializing in music written and/or arranged for the percussion instrument family.

Liturgical Music Ensemble (Music Ministry)

This group of singers and instrumentalists provides service to the entire Catholic-Christian community on a regular basis throughout the academic year. Membership is voluntary and students provide at least once-weekly service at the Sunday Catholic liturgy. This service also is an integral part of the Liturgical Studies Program for students pursuing a minor in that program.

Students of non-Catholic faith are also welcome.
