Bachelor's of Science - Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist

The Health Care Sciences and Services department of Immaculata University
offers a degree program in Allied Health with a specialization in Invasive
Cardiovascular Technology. The cardiovascular invasive specialist assists
physicians in the invasive cardiovascular laboratory. Examinations in the
cardiovascular lab include coronary arteriography, ventriculography,
atherectomies, electrophysiology, other heart-related diagnostics and
therapeutic studies. The cardiovascular invasive specialist not only assists
physicians but also provides extensive personal care to the patient before,
during and after a cardiovascular procedure. Upon completion of the
program, the graduate is ready to assume entry-level responsibilities in the
cardiac cath lab and is eligible to take the registry exam (Registered
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist-RCIS) offered by Cardiovascular
Credentialing International.

Career Opportunities

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialty is a rapidly expanding field. Invasive Cardiovascular positions will grow faster than the average through 2012. Opportunities are available predominately in Hospital Cardiac Catherization and Electrophysisiology Laboratory settings.
