Jada S. Gallagher Scholarship

Established in memory of Jada S. Gallagher, a distinguished graduate of the class of 1993, by her family and friends, the Jada S. Gallagher Scholarship is being awarded for the second time this year. This partial scholarship is awarded to a deserving freshman, sophomore, or junior who has evidenced outstanding talent in writing. Selected by the English Department, the recipient must have attained an over-all GPA of 3.50 or higher, be recommended by a faculty member and submit a formal written proposal stating his or her long-term goals.

While at Immaculata University, Jada Gallagher majored in English and history. Upon graduation, Jada earned a master’s degree in journalism at Stanford University and pursued a promising career in news reporting until her untimely death. Jada exhibited extraordinary gifts—as a student, as a journalist, but, most importantly, as a human being. According to many, Jada epitomized a person passionate about life, about truth, and about love. Although her life was brief by most standards, it was, as her mother puts it, "a life well-lived and well-measured. It was a life destined by God."
