In the IHM tradition, the Education Department fosters academic excellence and professional preparation through instruction, programs, and research. The Department provides instructional certifications in an expeditious manner to both traditional and continuing education students; outstanding faculty provide individual attention and guidance to students; students have the opportunity to graduate with a major and a certification in four years.

The Education Major provides comprehensive preparation for those who aspire to be highly qualified teachers through attainment of multiple certifications within a four-year program.

Upon successful completion of the Education program, students …

•  are competent in their field;

•  believe in the dignity of their profession;

•  realize the obligations, responsibilities, and standards of the teaching    profession;

•  are interested in the learning process for the individual student;

•  are equipped to address problems in contemporary society.
