Secondary Education Certification Requirements
Students who are preparing to teach in secondary school settings are required to have a field of concentration in one of the following academic subject areas:
- Biology
- Business Computer Information Technology (K-12)
- Chemistry
- English
- Family and Consumer Science (K-12)
- French (K-12)
- General Science
- History (Social Studies)
- Mathematics
- Music (K-12)
- Psychology (Social Science)
- Sociology (Social Science)
- Spanish (K-12)
Required Courses
The following courses are incorporated into the subject area degree requirements in order to prepare you for the classroom. Students must sit for and receive a satisfactory score on the Secondary Education Praxis Examinations to be eligible for teacher certification.

Note: Students are required to take PSY 324 as part of the social science requirement in the Program of Basic Studies
