Pre—Professional Program for Medical Sciences
for
Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Students
This program provides information, advisement, and services to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students in any major who wish to prepare for careers in medicine (including physician's assistant), dentistry, optometry, podiatry, or veterinary medicine. It is overseen by the Advisory Committee for the Health Professions made up of faculty members from the biology and chemistry departments.
The minimum prerequisites for admission to the various professional schools in these areas include the following:
- Biology including laboratory (8 credits)
- General Chemistry including laboratory (8 credits)
- Organic Chemistry including laboratory (8 credits)
- Physics including laboratory (8 credits)
- Mathematical Analysis or Calculus (6 credits)
Additional courses in modern biology are highly recommended as is participation in scientific research or a pre-professional internship.
