Entry Requirements for Biology and General Science Majors
- Chemistry: Completion of a one year High School Chemistry course with a grade of B or higher -OR- CHE101-102 with a grade of C or higher.
- Mathematics: SAT-Math score of 550 or higher and High School Pre-Calculus course with a grade of C or higher -OR- Performance on Immaculata Mathematics Placement Test sufficient for admission to MAT207-208 -OR- MAT203-204 with a grade of C or higher.
It is possible to complete a course of study for a baccalaureate degree in biology or general science in four years of normal full-time study from the time the specified prerequisites are met; students who need to take courses to meet the specified prerequisites may take longer.
Advanced Placement Credits
- AP Biology accepted as free elective
- AP Anatomy and Physiology will be accepted in lieu of Mammalian Structure and Function.
Transfer Credits
- Biology Majors: Up to twelve credits in majors' biology courses will be considered for transfer from another institution. Biology credits will be considered for transfer only if earned within the previous ten years, courses are comparable in content to courses currently taught in this department, and a grade of C or higher was earned. Once a student is formally accepted as a biology major, with the exception of approved off-campus research, all required biology courses must be taken at Immaculata University.
- General Science Majors: Up to twenty-four credits in majors' science courses will be considered for transfer from another institution. Science credits will be considered for transfer only if earned within the previous ten years, courses are comparable in content to courses currently taught at this university, and a grade of C or higher was earned.
